46th MedCruise General Assembly 2015 Print E-mail


The 46th MedCruise General Assembly will take place 3-6 June, 2015, in Zadar, Croatia.

During the General Assembly meeting, MedCruise member representatives together with other esteemed guests will46_ga_zadar_logo discuss the latest developments of the cruise sector, as well as the implications and prospects of cruising in the Med and its adjoining seas.

In line with the MedCruise tradition, all regular and associate members will have a first class opportunity to discuss the developments in the region, while they will also devote time in B2B meetings with cruise line executives.

The 46th MedCruise General Assembly is hosted by Port of Zadar, one of the 73 ports that form the MedCruise regular membership.



Set up in Rome on the 11th of June 1996, MedCruise is the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports.

MedCruise mission is to promote the cruise industry in the Mediterranean and its adjoining seas. The Association assists its members in benefiting from the growth of the cruise industry by providing networking, promotional, and professional development opportunities.

Today, the association has grown to 73 members representing more than 100 ports around the Mediterranean region, including the Black Sea, the Red Sea and the Near Atlantic, plus 32 associate members, representing other associations, tourist boards and ship/port agents.

Seatrade MedCruise Convention 2016 Print E-mail


The 10th edition of the Seatrade Med Cruise Convention, which came to a close in Barcelonaseatrade_med_1, Spain on September 18, 2014, concluded that the Mediterranean market is continuing to grow, despite the economic downturn.

More than 3,000 participants visited the showcase exhibition where over 180 exhibitors from all over the globe, including numerous companies new to cruise, showcased their products and demonstrated innovations on the exhibition floor. From cruise ports to tour organisers, from interior outfitters to entertainment specialists, all relevant segments of the cruise value chain were represented at Seatrade Med.

For ports, 2013 broke all Mediterranean records, with 24% growth and 27m passenger movements, noted MedCruise Honorary President Stavros Hatzakos.

Seatrade Med continued its ongoing success and proved once again to be the Mediterranean's most prestigious cruise event.

The 3rd Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum 2015 Print E-mail


Focus on the Cruise Industry, Yachting and Passenger Shipping

The third Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum will be held in May 2015 in Athens, the event’s organisers confirmed, adding that the biennial event has managed to quickly establish itself as a leading business platform for global cruising and yachting industry decision makers and governments, tourism bodies, regulators and ports & destinations from the entire Mediterranean and Black Sea region.

The region with great cruise potential is challenging infrastructure to serve large cruise ships. Will the launching of the new terminals in the region contribute to the solution to this problem? What are the challenges that influence the deployment decisions for cruise ships in the region?

- The Black Sea is a 436,400 km2 inland sea with a maximum depth of 2,200 m, situated between Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Ukraine.

- The Black Sea was a busy waterway on the crossroads of the ancient world: the Balkans to the west, the Eurasian steppes to the north, Caucasus and Central Asia to the east, Asia Minor and Mesopotamia to the south and Greece to the South West

- The Black Sea ports serve a hinterland of some 200 million people.


In March 2012 the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Black Sea ports, regional governments, private sector and cruise line RCCL in sign of strengthening the aims of each participant to mutually promote the Black Sea cruise product as an unexplored cruise destination, to raise the awareness to the general public and cruise line operators about the destination.


THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “BLACK SEA CRUISE 2012” is represented in quite a new scope. The delegates will have a chance to gain practical experience, during special sessions. B2B meetings with the representatives of the cruise lines will be held after the conference and offer the opportunity to deliver your special products directly to the cruise lines.
